Resident Food Coach

Donita Andrews

A Journey of Passion and Purpose

Donita’s journey into the world of food and nutrition began with an early interest in the science of dietetics. She pursued an Associate Degree in Dietetic Technology, laying the foundation for her understanding of how food impacts our health. Eager to expand her knowledge and share it with others, she continued her education, earning both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Education. This academic journey not only deepened her expertise but also honed her ability to teach and guide others.

Her love for food goes beyond the kitchen. As a Master Gardener, she cultivated a profound respect for where our food comes from and the importance of fresh, home-grown produce. To further complement her expertise, she obtained certification from the Rouxbe Online Culinary School's Forks Over Knives Plant-Based Program. This training reinforced her commitment and equipped her with the skills to create nutritious and delicious meals.

For the past decade, she has opened her home and kitchen to family, friends, and even an online audience. Her goal has always been to offer a unique culinary experience while introducing people to new flavors and seasonings. She is passionate about helping others, especially black and brown communities, to eat well while staying within budget. It's about more than just food—it's about empowering people to make informed choices. Her focus is on broadening awareness of marketing traps, teaching how to read labels, and sharing time management tips that make cooking varied and exciting meals quicker and easier.

She looks forward to offering even more to underserved communities as she completes the Food Coach Academy Certification Program. Her vision is to continue guiding others on their journey by listening to their needs, meeting them where they are at, and assisting in developing realistic sustainable goals.

Through her work, she has learned that food is a powerful tool for change. It's not just about what we eat, but how we approach food in our daily lives. Donita believes we can create a ripple effect that will improve the health and well-being of entire communities. Her advice to anyone is simple: be curious, stay informed, and never underestimate the impact of a well-prepared meal shared with loved ones.
